The terraced gardens lead into woodland and down to the river Calder. The hall dates from the Elizabethan period and houses the important Rachel Kay-Shuttleworth collection of textiles. Textile workshops form part of the events programme, along with children's and seasonal activities, theatre and indoor and outdoor exhibitions.
